2007 Surrogate Alternatives

Gay Surrogacy

Becoming a Parent through Surrogacy

Are you single or in a same sex relationship and dream of being a parent? Surrogate Alternatives currently has women who are immediately available, so there is NO long waiting period, which you will find with many other agencies.

The entire process, from selection of your Surrogate to embryo transfer will take approximately three months. If the embryo transfer is successful, there is a very good chance within a year, you will be holding your son or daughter in your arms.

Years ago being gay meant living a life without children. Never being able to hold or love a child that is biologically your own. That has all changed! You are no longer restricted due to your sexuality. People aren’t as closed minded about men raising children without a mother in the dynamic or a woman raising a child without a man.

Surrogate Alternatives has been assisting gay clients for over 13 years with over 70% of our clients being gay couples, single men or lesbians. Many of our Surrogates would love the opportunity to share this wonderful experience with you. They understand the road to parenthood can be more difficult for you and our Surrogates feel their experience would be that much more rewarding.....

It is critical for gay couples considering surrogacy to consult with an attorney who is not only well versed in family formation law, but specifically in gay family formation law. Surrogate Alternatives has worked with a wonderful team of attorneys for over 10 years who are up-to-date on the ever changing laws in California and would gladly refer you to them for legal representation. As far as the birth certificate goes, one parent will be listed at the parent and the other as the co-parent.

The medical process now allows for BOTH parents to fertilize the eggs and to transfer one embryo fertilized by one parent and the second one fertilized by the other, thus if both embryos became babies, our clients would know each has a biological child on the way.

California: “The Gay Friendly State

It is estimated that there are over 1,000,000 gay fathers in the United States and Canada alone.

It is very important for a gay couple, single parent or lesbian couple to work with an agency in a “Surrogate Friendly” state, such as California. Your rights to the child or children need to be protected and for this reason we only except Surrogates from the state of California. At times, we may have a few women available from other states, however, these women are “Proven Surrogates” that have already delivered a child(or children) through Surrogate Alternatives and have moved out of state. These women also live in states where surrogacy is legal only for heterosexual couples.

It is very important to choose an agency that has significant experience in this unique field and a full staff ready to assist you and understand your needs. Surrogate Alternatives is available to our clients after office hours, should an emergency occur. We understand situations arise and questions need to be answered at times other then during normal business hours. Once you are matched, you are given an “after hours” contact number so you will

always be able to reach a representative from Surrogate Alternatives if you need assistance. Most importantly, we also has a full staff who have all been Surrogate Mothers or Egg Donors themselves, giving us a unique perspective and personal first-hand experience in the process from beginning to end.

Many people do not know about Surrogate agencies and the option of having a surrogate carry your child. Gay men or couples tend to have a harder time when it comes to adoption, as not everyone is open minded and understands the need or desire we have, as humans, to be a parent.

We often receive calls or emails asking if we would help a gay couple. So as you can see, there is still uncertainty about gay couples being able to receive assistance with the help of a Surrogate. There are agencies in California that restrict their clientele to heterosexual couples only, however at Surrogate Alternatives, we believe, regardless of your sexual orientation, if you have the desire and love to share your life and heart with a child, who are we to decide you cannot be a parent. We have found in the last decade, some of the most involved, caring and appreciative clients we have had the privilege of working with are gay.
